Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller VA to oversee our financial operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of our accounting processes. This role involves managing day-to-day accounting functions, producing financial reports, and supporting leadership with insights that drive sound business decisions. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting skills with the ability to work independently and communicate clearly with business owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, and cash flow analyses
- Perform bank and account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Monitor budgets and provide variance analysis against actual performance
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records in line with accounting standards
- Support tax preparation by organizing documentation and coordinating with external accountants
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting accuracy
- Communicate financial insights and updates directly to company leadership
Mandatory Skills
- Proven experience in a Financial Controller, senior accountant, or full-charge bookkeeping role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliations
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills for reporting and analysis
- High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail in financial work
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Background in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent certification a plus)
- Experience supporting US-based businesses and familiarity with US accounting practices
- Experience preparing budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
- Familiarity with payroll processing and expense management tools
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
