Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented Construction Estimating and Bid Support Assistant to help us prepare competitive bids and keep our business organized. You will build project estimates, assemble bid packages, and handle the paperwork that comes with responding to contractor solicitations. You will also help manage incoming inquiries. The ideal candidate is strong in math, comfortable reading construction documents, and reliable enough to own the bid process from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate, well-rounded construction estimates for bids, quotes, and solicitations
- Review project scopes and bid documents to determine materials, labor, and cost requirements
- Assemble complete bid packages, including forms, supporting documents, and uploads to bid portals
- Respond to RFIs, RFQs, and other solicitations from larger contractors
- Track bid deadlines, submissions, and outcomes to keep the pipeline organized
- Monitor and respond to incoming project inquiries from the website and email
- Maintain organized digital files, templates, and records for estimates and bids
- Update estimating templates and cost data to improve speed and accuracy over time
Mandatory Skills
- Proven experience preparing construction estimates or quantity takeoffs
- Strong math and analytical skills, with the ability to handle multi-part cost calculations
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, scopes of work, and specifications
- Experience preparing bid packages, proposals, or tender documents
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets and standard document tools
- Strong written English and email communication skills
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Strong communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Background in architecture, engineering, or construction-related education
- Familiarity with estimating software or takeoff tools
- Experience with RFI, RFQ, or government and subcontractor bid portals
- Knowledge of residential and commercial renovation or new construction costing
- Experience with inbox management and lead inquiry follow-up
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
