Video Editor (YouTube)

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Video Editor to transform long-form talking-head footage into polished, engaging YouTube videos. This role focuses on clean, calm, professional editing that keeps content clear and easy to watch. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for pacing, an understanding of on-screen text and branding, and the ability to work independently while staying true to a specific visual style.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit long-form talking-head footage into finished YouTube videos (approximately 15 minutes long from 30 minutes of raw footage)
• Crop and remove silences, pauses, stumbles, water breaks, and other unnecessary segments for a smooth final cut
• Add clean, on-brand text overlays using provided brand fonts and style guidelines
• Maintain a calm, uncluttered editing style that avoids chaotic effects or heavy overlays
• Ensure consistent pacing and flow that keeps content clear and easy to follow
• Apply brand fonts and visual elements consistently across all videos
• Collaborate directly with the content creator to refine and match their preferred editing style over time
• Design YouTube thumbnails that align with the channel’s aesthetic (optional, based on candidate strengths)
• Edit audio-based meditation content by pairing recorded audio with provided music (potential future add-on)

Mandatory Skills

• Proven experience editing long-form video content, particularly talking-head or educational-style videos
• Proficiency in a professional video editing tool such as CapCut, Final Cut Pro, or similar
• Strong ability to add clean, well-placed text overlays and follow brand guidelines
• Excellent sense of pacing, timing, and visual flow
• Attention to detail in trimming, cutting, and refining raw footage
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
• Strong communication skills and responsiveness

Preferred Skills

• Experience designing YouTube thumbnails
• Familiarity with editing audio content or pairing audio with music (e.g., meditations, podcasts)
• Experience producing calm, wellness, or lifestyle-style content
• Understanding of YouTube best practices and audience engagement
• Ability to take on additional creative and administrative tasks as the role grows

Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, 2 hours/day, 10 hours/week, 40 hours/month. Flexible alignment with VA’s other commitments, client is open to whatever rhythm the VA prefers as long as monthly volume is met. Client based in Brisbane, Australia (AEST, UTC+10)
