- *Job Summary: **We are looking for a detail-oriented Human Resources Clerk to support our day-to-day HR and payroll operations in the construction industry. This role maintains accurate employee records, supports new-hire onboarding and offboarding, assists with payroll and timekeeping documentation, and helps track safety and compliance requirements for both office and field staff. The ideal candidate is highly organized, discreet with confidential information, and comfortable learning new HR and payroll systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and organize employee records across HR, payroll, and timekeeping systems
- Process employee changes such as pay rates, job titles, departments, and employment status
- Prepare new-hire onboarding packets and coordinate required employment documentation, including Form I-9 and pre-employment screenings
- Coordinate employee offboarding, including termination paperwork and collection of company property
- Support payroll processing by verifying employee hours, PTO, and time records, and flagging discrepancies for review
- Track employee safety training, certifications, licenses, and other compliance documentation for field and office staff
- Coordinate background checks, drug screenings, and motor vehicle record checks when required
- Prepare HR letters, reports, checklists, and other administrative documents
- Assist with job postings, interview scheduling, and candidate communication
- Maintain HR calendars and track document-renewal deadlines
Mandatory Skills
- Strong data-entry skills with a high level of accuracy
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent organizational and filing skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
- Comfortable learning new HR, payroll, and timekeeping software
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
- 1-2 years of administrative, payroll, or HR experience
- Experience with HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, or applicant-tracking software
- Background supporting construction or other field-based operations
- Basic Excel skills including sorting, filtering, and organizing data
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
